A General Introduction to RAC
Ever since its foundation in 1897, RAC has been consistently at the forefront in developing motoring services - from introducing uniformed patrols in 1901 and roadside emergency telephone boxes in 1912 right through to the present day when RAC boast the world's most advanced computer systems to deal with calls for roadside assistance.
While retaining RAC's unchallenged reputation as the UK's most forward thinking and progressive motoring organisation, today's RAC recognises that not all drivers are the same and not all of them have the same requirements.
As a result RAC are committed to providing each of their customers and their families with individual motoring solutions - products and services which are flexible enough to suit personal circumstances and which allow RAC to respond to their requirements in the quickest, most efficient and most appropriate way.
Six million RAC members enjoy access to an enormous range of motoring products and services throughout their driving lives, ranging from the familiar and much appreciated roadside assistance in the event of a breakdown to continually updated legal and technical advice and up-to-the-minute travel information - now available to all web users via the RAC website.
In addition many people will have learned to drive with driver training experts BSM, the world's largest driving school and an RAC Group company, and may well have bought or serviced their car through Lex Service PLC, the motoring services company which, in 1999, became the owner of RAC Motoring Services.

The RAC Foundation
The RAC Foundation is an independent body, established in 1999 to carry out research into motoring issues and to take on the role of protecting the interests of the motorist. The Foundation carries out regular opinion surveys of RAC members and has, in the course of its campaigning work, taken up many of the issues which they have raised.

General Exclusions
When applying for motor insurance from RAC Insurance Direct there are certain criteria you must meet. If you can answer 'yes' to all of the following statements, then please proceed to complete the email form or call RAC Insurance Direct to discuss your insurance.
- You and your drivers are aged between 21 and 74 years of age
- You and your drivers must not have been disqualified from driving within the last 5 years
- You are resident in either England, Scotland or Wales
- You and your drivers must in total have no more than 1 fault claim within the last 3 years
- You and your drivers must have no more than 6 driving conviction points each and not more than 8 per policy

Special Policies - Caravan Insurance
RAC Insurance Direct offers an excellent dedicated policy that covers not just your caravan, but its contents as well.
RAC Insurance Direct's opening hours are:
Monday to Friday 8:00am - 9:00pm
Saturday 9:00am - 6:00pm
Sunday 10:00am - 2:00pm
E-mail your completed form to RAC Insurance Direct and they will telephone you within 4 working hours, assuming:
- RAC are in receipt of messages by 4:30pm - Monday to Friday and by 1pm - Saturday
- Outside of these hours it will be within 4 hours on the next working day.
