dotcover is an independent intermediary. dotcover act as your agent and accept responsibility for the advice given and for arranging your insurance. They represent a number of insurers and undertake to comply with the Association of British Insurers (ABI) code of practice for the selling of general insurance. Under Data Protection law they cannot consider your request for insurance cover or administer subsequent dealings in respect of your insurance without using ("processing") your "sensitive" personal data which may include information about your health and it may be necessary to pass some data to other countries if you have a medical emergency overseas.

dotcover will use your information to consider and process your insurance application and if insurance cover is issued, to carry out subsequent dealings relating to your insurance. They will also use your information to contact you at the end of the insurance cover to enquire whether you wish to renew your insurance.

None of your personal data (even if not "sensitive") will be given or disclosed without your consent to any person or organisation, or used for any purpose, other than those listed above and by those involved in general insurance administration, unless required by law.

In addition to this security, the information you give dotcover will be held by your insurance provider who is also subject to the provisions of the Data Protection Act.

Information You Need to Supply to dotcover

Some of the information you will need to supply to obtain a quotation will include:-

Your renewal date or date cover required from
The details of your car (make and specific model etc.)
The details of any convictions (date, type, points etc)
The details of any claims (date and amount)

There are certain circumstances where dotcover are unable to provide an online quotation. In order to satisfy the underwriting requirements of their Insurers, dotcover are unable to provide cover unless you are able to agree the following:

are the owner, main user and registered keeper of the vehicle
are aged between 17 and 75 years.
are NOT employed (either full time or part time) in the acting and entertainment industry, a TV or radio presenter, or a professional sports person.
and any person who may drive have not ever suffered from defective vision and/or hearing (other than corrected by spectacles, contact lenses or hearing aid), heart condition, mental illness, epilepsy, diabetes, loss of use of limb, any heart condition and/or any disease, disorder, illness or infirmity.

has NOT been modified or altered from the makers specification including body kits, alloy wheels, spoilers, engine, suspension etc. nor do you intend to alter it.
is NOT registered on a Q registration letter, or has diplomatic plates.
is a standard UK specification, Right Hand Drive model.

You must be the holder of a current credit or debit card to buy online.
You and any person residing with you have never been convicted of or cautioned for any criminal offence of any kind or have any prosecution pending e.g. fraud, theft, acts of violence etc, or any County Court Judgements (C.C.Js).
You and any person residing with you have not been refused insurance or quoted an increased premium or had any special terms imposed.
Protected No Claims Discount is not available if you have had a claim in the last five years.
